Cassie Pope's brilliant Rocket Men is one of our three shortlisted entries for this year's Comedy Writing Award. We caught up with her to talk writing comedy before Monday's Charity Final at the Leicester Square Theatre!
Here's what Cassie had to say about her script:
"I came up with the idea for Rocket Men during my screenwriting MA last year – one of those "what if" questions that struck me whilst riding the tube. What if, with all our eccentricities and fumbling about, Britain had found itself leading the way in the Cold War space race? The thought made me giggle and I noted it down in my little pad.
When I saw the Funny Women competition I thought it was a great chance to step away from my usual drama writing, (hopefully) flex some comedy muscle and dust off my Rocket Men notes. I loved the experience of writing comedy and I'm amazed and really proud to have come this far in the competition."
