Funny Women in Cyprus

Andi Osho, winner of the NIVEA Funny Women Awards 2007, will be appearing at the Londa Hotel in Limassol for a one-off performance on Saturday 12th April 2008.  Andi is the latest comedian to perform in an exclusive series of events featuring top British female comedy talent at the Londa Hotel.

Andi's performance is described as a perfect balance between restraint and confidence and she has made a fast impression on the London comedy scene with her acutely observed set based largely on her Nigerian background. Andi started her acting career just five years ago and first tried her hand at comedy just six months before she won the NIVEA Funny Women Awards.  Since then she has performed at over 100 gigs across the UK showing a real commitment to comedy.

Andi's acting credits include Footballers Wives, East Enders, Sea of Souls, Waking the Dead and Casualty.  She is currently appearing in a production of Breakfast with Mugabe at the The Ustinov, Theatre Royal, Bath.

Jochen Niemann, General Manager of the Londa explains: “We were so impressed by the response to our first comedy evening in the autumn of 2006 that we have continued to host events featuring Funny Women artistes. Our designer boutique hotel with its lively outlets has become the place to be seen for the cognoscenti of Cyprus. So hosting a Funny Women tour is a perfect way to develop our unique offer for guests, both for locals and the tourist market.”

The show on the 12th April will be the fifth held at The Londa.  Other top comedy names that have appeared include 2006 Awards winner, Suzy Bennett, Karen Bayley, Sally Anne Hayward and Shazia Mirza.

To see Andi perform in Cyprus, please contact Mr George Ellinas, tel: (+357) 25 865 555. The shows start at 8.30 pm in the Alpha Omega Ballroom. Kindly note that there are a limited number of seats. A cover charge of £5.00 will apply and all proceeds will be donated to the Cyprus Anticancer Society, www.anticancersociety.org.cy

Find your ‘Female Funny’ with Funny Women and The Giggling Guiri in Spain.

Following the launch of our comedy workshops at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe we were invited to bring our successful formula to Spain, working in collaboration with the Giggling Guiri, Spain’s leading live comedy brand with clubs in Barcelona and Madrid.

After being at the vanguard of new female comedy in the UK for the last five years, we’re now spreading our net further into Europe to develop the next generation of female comics and generally encourage women to improve their self confidence by learning some of the tricks of the comedy trade. Even if you decide that being a comedian isn’t the life for you, finding out how to use humour in your every day life is a powerful and brave life skill to master.

The Funny Women Workshop starts with basic elements such as “What is a joke?” before exploring the mechanics of what makes a gag funny. “Go on then, tell us a joke!” deals with stagecraft and delivering humour through performance and “It’s not what you know...” explains to the wannabe comic the etiquette and insider tips of being a gigging comedian.

So whether you want to be the next big thing in comedy, to build your confidence in front of others or just enjoy a fun weekend in Spain, look out for our next set of dates.
