The Sixth Annual NIVEA Funny Women Awards kicked off on the 1st of April 2008. As usual we’re holding heats all over the UK, there’s bound to be one near you, so come on down and check out the future famous faces vying to be our Funny Women Winner 2008.

We’ve celebrated five successful years of discovering the best new female comedy talent in the UK. Each year women from all across the UK (and in fact, the world) are invited to enter the Awards, with a chance to win an all-exclusive luxury holiday and an introduction to a career in comedy.

2008 promises to be an exceptional year and we really want to encourage women who have never entered before to give it a go. We are looking for new acts who have been performing for no more than three years. If you've entered before and not made it into the semi finals, we urge you to try again.

The 2008 Final will be back at the world famous Comedy Store in London on Monday 23rd June - it's sure to be a great night, so don't forget to buy tickets to see our Funny Women 2008 Finalists!

Want to see the show but don’t live in the UK – why not listen to last year’s podcasts with The Sun (semi final, final) or you can see footage from the 2007 charity final on the Paramount Comedy website.

We are supported this year by our sponsors NIVEA, as well as several media partnerships with have formed with Channel 4, Paramount Comedy and Woman magazine, who have offered our readers here at Funny Women a fantastic 20% off subscription offer (click here to find out more).

The 2008 judges are Don Ward of the Comedy Store, Maureen Vincent and Hannah Begbie of United Agents, Sarah Mahoney of Comedy Central International (chair), Shane Allen of Channel 4, Jackie Hatton, editor of Woman magazine and Kathleen Hutchinson of Paramount Comedy.
