Wild Granny wins Fringe's only Cabaret Award

One of the highlights of our Edinburgh Fringe was the news that one of our favourite acts from overseas, the marvellous, almost-octogenarian Lynn Ruth Miller, had won the second annual TO&ST Edinburgh Cabaret Award, run by Time Out and the Soho Theatre, with her show ‘Granny’s Gone Wild’.  The show ran at C Nova from 31st July to 26th August.

The Soho Theatre website describes Lynn Ruth as ‘An old-school entertainer, originally from Ohio, who weaves colourful anecdotes, groan inducing gags, bawdy sing-a-longs and shrewd observations.’ She was unanimously chosen by the judges to win the Fringe’s only prize created to recognise cabaret work. …

Review: Bec and Tom’s Awesome Laundry

I’m not usually a huge fan of live kid’s shows. To be fair I’m not really their demographic, I’m not a kid and I don’t have kids, however Bec and Tom’s Awesome Laundry is thoroughly enjoyable.

Bec Hill and Tom Goodliffe are a natural comedy duo. Their effortless interaction as they play off each other’s differences in personality and appearance is classic and entertaining.

Tom is the perfect ‘straight man’ in the pair though equally equipped with numerous lobster facts and pants.  His sensible and ‘grown-up’ persona is an ideal spring board for Bec’s childish but fun shenanigans.
