This year I am delighted to be co-ordinating a number of events celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Womankind Worldwide and our supporters have led the way in events and activities. We love it when people use comedy to help raise awareness and money for good causes. On Monday 6th October some fantastic comedy talent, including some Funny Women alumni, will be taking to the stage for comedy fundraiser Laughing Point. This will be the fourth Laughing Point event which raises money for the youth homelessness charity Centrepoint

Not only is this event all for a great cause but it features some fantastic female comedy talent. 2008 Funny Women Awards winner Katherine Ryan will be headlining alongside 2008 Funny Women Awards runner up Sara Pascoe and the brilliant Aisling Bea

Barrel of Laughs at Vinopolis

If you like your wine like you like your comedy...together then this is the night for you. Vinpolis, the wine and champagne experience will be hosting a comedy night on Bank End on Friday 12th September.

Comedy heavweight Mark Dolan will be the compere the night which promises to be great with Patrick Monahan, Sarah Kendall,  ITV’s Carly Smallman and Pat Cahill winner of Chortle’s Best Newcomer on the bill. 

The wine experience starts at 4.35pm with comedy kicks off at 8.45pm

Cofilmic Comedy Film Festival

Wildseed Studios, who helped bring Michelle Gomez's creation Heather to life, has partnered with Cofilmic, the comedy network which discovers and nurtures new talent, to offer a £10,000 Production Award to one project selected from this year’s Cofilmic Comedy Film Festival.

Filmmakers are encouraged to submit their short comedy films, sketch or pilot of between five to seven minutes for the chance to win the Wildseed £10,000 Production Award together with creative mentorship and strategic advice. The categories are:

Comedy Short Film: max length seven minutes
Comedy Sketch: max length five minutes
