Funny Women beside the seaside at Brighton Comedy Festival

If you haven't already taken two weeks off work to spend in Brighton, trying to squeeze as many stand-up comedians into your nights and days as humanly possible, in between eating chips out of a bag and staring longing out over the pier, then we humbly suggest that you do try to make it down there for next week. After all, how often do we get the chance to see this many female comedians, all in one place?
Dave's Brighton Comedy Festival is in its 11th year, having celebrated it's 10th Anniversary last year, which seems to be a recurring trend among comedy institutions recently. (can't imagine which....Ed).
Also like us, Dave's Brighton Comedy Festival is encouraging new comedy talent and this year brings the Squawker Award, a competition to showcase the best of upcoming comedic talent in and around the area. Supporting and encouraging burgeoning talent should be the cornerstone of any large comedy event, so make it your business to head over and check out the next big thing! We hope to see some of the finalists at our regular Brighton Nights at the Komedia.
We'll be continuing our 10th Anniversary celebrations this year with a very special Funny Women Brighton Nights, taking place as part of this year's fest. With Brightonian Julie Jepson hosting, we'll be showing off the cream of our past winners and finalists to perform for you, (yes, you) in a show comprising musical comedy, variety, sketch and stand-up. In fact, if you're on a mission to see as many comics as possible, then spend an hour or two with us to have your funny bone thoroughly tickled.
Headlining this year's show is Vikki Stone, fresh from a five-star run at Edinburgh Festival with her show 'Hot Mess.' Vikki's musical and comic talents will be joined by 'Marijana', aka Gabby Best, the enthusiastic Croatian fitness instructor with an ego as large as the Brighton Dome, ready to give you a one-on-one 'pi-lates' session, should you need it.
Jayde Adams is a Brighton Nights favourite, who doesn't want to show off about her many and varied talents, including rapping, beatboxing, cabaret, opera and balloon modelling, but might if you ask her nicely. Tessa Waters was voted in the Top Ten Australian comics of 2011, and we reckon you'll vote her in the top ten at the Brighton Comedy Festival too. Not only this, but everyone who buys a ticket will receive a free Benefit Cosmetics gift worth more than the ticket price! (Yes, that includes you too boys.....)
There will also be a raffle, held to raise money for Rise UK, a charity which provides support for women, children and young people who are affected by domestic abuse in Brighton and Hove, and across West Sussex. The main prize is a glamorous gift from our friends at Benefit, a Cabana Glama cosmetics kit, and you could also win places at our next Brighton-based introductory comedy workshop for you and a friend .
