Funny Women Aid Benefit Cosmetics in Their Investigation into the Slaying of Gangster Benny Fitz

Funny Women Aid Benefit Cosmetics in Their Investigation into the Slaying of Gangster Benny Fitz

31st August 2011

Funny Women were delighted to be asked to work with Benefit Cosmetics on their launch party for the new mascara ‘They’re Real’ and perfume ‘Ring My Bella’ at their Spitalfields Market store, providing a script and actors to take part in a 1930’s comedy sketch in-store centred around the murder of Gangster Benny Fitz.

Make-up artists and beauty bloggers were also given a workshop taster from Funny Women’s Liz Waters which involved telling the group an unlikely fact about themselves. Somehow we doubt that the story about being married to Brad Pitt with Angelina being a c…

It's been a fantastic time for us producing and developing our own editorial pages since we launched the Magazine section of the website a few months ago.  It gives us a voice and we welcome contributions too. But we equally appreciate the publicity that we receive from the broader media …

Funny Women Awards Long List Announced

Funny Women Awards Long List Announced

26th August 2011

We have been crunching numbers, reviewing judging forms and perusing video from this summer's Funny Women Awards Heats, the last of which took place last week in Edinburgh. The standard has been incredibly high and it has not been an easy job to narrow down that list!

We are very happy to be announcing the long list. This comprises of participants who the judges have rated highly and have caught the producers' eyes. Everyone on the long list should be commended on their performance and material.

From here, we will be announcing the list of those who will be invited to go through to the quarter finals, which will take place in London on September 10th by email an…

Rosie's Pop Diary - Rosie Wilby Review

Rosie's Pop Diary - Rosie Wilby Review

25th August 2011

I'm  not sure that you would classify Rosie Wilby's Pop Diary as stand-up, but I'm also not sure that you'd want to. A nostalgic narrative which mixes storytelling, standup, diary entries, visuals and songs, she details her time chasing stardom in an indie pop band during the 90s. Brutally honest and self-depricating, you're not entirely sure if you would have been friends with Rosie in the 90s, though luckily the Rosie of 2011 is a warm and engaging stage presence.

A highly enjoyable show, Rosie kept her energy and performance high despite the intimate size of the audience. And she should be playing to a larger audience - so go see her in the last …
