30th March 2011

While taking acting classes in LA, I told my teacher that I wanted to work in comedy and asked how to go about it. She looked me straight in the eye and said, ‘Niki you have to prove you’re funny - you don’t bring funny into the room’. Asking her what parts could I play she bluntly said, ‘prostitute or slut’. I was let down, and down right pissed off!

Funny Women @ Musical Comedy Awards

Funny Women @ Musical Comedy Awards

28th March 2011

The Musical Comedy Awards final was held on the 19th, and we were awfully pleased to offer our support to the funny women  showing their stuff throughout the competition. The hilarious Mae Martin and Carly Smallman both did excellent sets in Saturday's final.

Pan Asian Showcase Success

Pan Asian Showcase Success

16th March 2011

Saturday afternoon saw our Funny Women Pan Asian comedy showcase in association with PAWA (Pan Asian Women’s Association) at the WOW (Women of the World) Festival, Soutbank Cente.

What better place to carry out a show than in a room with spectacular views of the London Eye!  An eclectic mix of comedic talent joined forces to bring an afternoon of hilarity covering subjects ranging from fussy mothers to seeking asylum.

Sajeela Kershi hosted the show superbly. Tina Mehta told of her menopausal woes, despite her youthful appearance and Auntie Netta even had time to feed the audience. Nimmi Harasgamma under the guise of Auntie Netta gave a sneak preview of her upcoming Edin…
