Workshop participants enter Awards

We’ve been running our workshops now for the last three years and our London dates get booked up very quickly. We’ve recently held our first workshop in Brighton and plan to come back soon, plus after a fantastic response to our ‘taster’ workshops at the Surviving Actors Convention this weekend, we’re looking for a venue to launch the workshops in Manchester.
It’s particularly satisfying that we’re seeing so many of our workshop participants going on to take part in the Funny Women Awards too – we know that performing is not for everybody and offer support for writing and general presentation skills as well, so this is a bonus.
Here are some of the lovely comments we’ve had from workshop participants over the last few months.
“The afternoon was really helpful to me on two counts:
- Thinking through the connection between humour and vulnerability i.e. drawing on the things close to you to find the funny.
- Feeling the confidence needed to stand up in front of people and make them laugh.”
Catherine Considine (Brighton)
“The workshop was the tip of the iceberg!! I thoroughly enjoyed it but felt it could gave been a bit longer. I particularly struggle with getting things down as a script. I found the Love Hate and Wish exercise particularly useful to find material.”
Khrys Kyriacou (Brighton)
“I think I am going to get addicted to your workshops. I found Saturday not only very enjoyable but a valuable opportunity to share with others the importance of comedy. Book me in for the lot! I just wish you did a boarding school - that would be for me, not the kids!”
Debbie Baisden (Leicester and London)
“I was amazed at how much we managed to do in two hours - but would happily have stayed all day, it was so much fun. It was great to meet and work with you all, and I came away feeling very inspired. I'm hoping to stay in touch with everyone and would definitely like come to an advanced workshop and weekend course. You are ALL such FUNNY WOMEN!”
Dawn Coxwell (London)
“Thank you for yesterday -- not least your supportive comments and encouragement. I didn't think, when I signed up, that I would get as much as I did from the workshop. I am very glad I came.
“The style of the two hours -- very warm but serious and focused with clear feedback, and all in supportive 'girlfriend' environment clearly works.”
Sindhu Horderis (London)
“It was so nice to meet you all and it felt really unusual to be in a group of just women talking about comedy- I loved it. Great exercises, guidance and support from Lynne - thank you.”
Thea Anderson (Brighton)
If you would like to book a place on one of our workshops, all the details and dates are HERE. The next London introductory workshop takes place on Saturday 2nd June at the Leicester Square Theatre and, due to demand, we've arranged an advanced workshop for Saturday 7th July. Just email info@funnywomen.com stating the workshop and date you wish to attend and we will hold a place for you.
