Charlie Webster
Charlie Webster is a seasoned performer as a TV presenter, currently on Sky Sports News and Sky Sports boxing coverage, as well as being an athlete and amateur boxer. Speaking before the Challenge, this is what Charlie had to say:
"As an ambassador for Women's Aid it means a great deal to me to be able to raise awareness of domestic violence against women and children and raise much needed funds through this event.
"I have to admit I am used to taking on challenges but always of a physical nature, running marathons a plenty but nothing where I've had to be 'funny' although I probably look pretty funny towards the end of a marathon. My first introduction to stand-up comedy was on 3rd December 2011, at the end of a two hour workshop I had to do two minutes of stand-up. Typical me I just improvised completely and played on the fact that I'm Northern. I think I got a few chuckles but I'm planning on doing more than copying Peter Kay next time around. Oh dear, what have I let myself in for! "
Charlie's Challenge is being supported by Women in Film & TV.
You can find her thoughts on taking part in the Challenge HERE and this is what Charlie had to say after completing the Challenge:
"The art of stand-up comedy, I don't know whether I managed to master it or not but despite my pre-nerves I really enjoyed making people laugh. The nerves meant I couldn't eat my dinner and I'm not sure which people found funniest - my set or the fact that I ordered dinner again at 11pm at night whilst everybody else was finishing their coffee. This stand-up comedy malarkey certainly builds up an appetite.
"I didn't have a final piece to my set hours before I was about to jump on stage - until International Kidney Day inspired me. Just to add to my challenge I'd been up since 2.30am - and hadn't really slept - for some reason possible punch lines were having a field day in my head. Actually that might have been a good thing, doing stand-up comedy in a state of delirium!
"It was a unique amazing experience but the main thing was the support everybody gave to raise money for Women's Aid. Can't wait to appear at the Comedy Store."
