Lara A King- People Pleaser Edinburgh Preview
19th July 2012
The hilarious Lara A King, Funny Women Awards winner 2011, brings her Edinburgh preview show to the Leicester Square Theatre.
Comedian Lara A King wrote songs. She sang them beautifully. In between the songs she told funny stories. And a few jokes. Then she wrote some funny songs. And some songs without tunes; which were poems.
Now she combines sharp humour, uplifting melodies, lyrical wordsmithery and very clever silliness to hilariously observe the baffling absurdities of life. She sings like an angel and will make you laugh until a little bit of wee comes out.
Having toured the UK extensively with Rhona Cameron, Sue Perkins and top cabaret divas Fascinating Aida (check the bodhran player on youtube sensation ‘Cheap Flights’); lara won the prestigious main award in the 2011 Funny Women Awards and was a finalist in both The Amused Moose Laughter Awards and The Loaded Laftas.
At this year’s Edinburgh Festival lara is very excited to be performing her first proper, grown up comedy show and is practically wetting herself at the prospect of having Patsy, her VW camper van parked beside the venue for additional opportunities to perform, sell CDs, hold interviews, show movies and drink endless cups of tea.
It’s like Ellen DeGeneres meets k.d lang and they somehow create a love child with John Hegley. Even though they’re lesbians. Not John Hegley of course. He’s a man.
