Improv Playdate - London

Fancy hanging out with us?! We've got a new playdate in the diary but we promise it won't be this physical!
Do you remember what it was like to run around the park as a kid, pretending to ride a horse, be a dinosaur and battle the bad guy? We provide a place for you to relive the joie de vivre of youth with the next of our regular 'Improv Playdates'.
We meet at the Bloomsbury Space under St George's Church, Bloomsbury, for an informal improv session, ideal for anyone who needs a place to let themselves go, unwind and pretend to be a Power Ranger riding a dinosaur through space! These sessions are facilitated by experienced improvisers who are also one of our newly founded Funny Women Players, under the direction of Emma Stroud and Courtney Cornfield. Funny Women Workshop Weekend
13th July 2013 - 14th July 2013
After the fantastic success of our first ever Workshop Weekend in February, our next event takes place in July (postponed from 18th and 19th May). Same time, same place as our inaugural weekend where 100% of the participants said they would recommend the experience to a friend. We're confident that we can get your creative juices flowing and boost your confidence whether it's for performing or everyday life. We know that women are big on talent and short on time so our bumper weekend of four workshops covers stand up skills, writing comedy, improvisation and physical awareness led by some fantastic women (and one man!) who work with us regularly on our shows, workshops and Charity Challenges as performers and mentors.

Funny Women Players - Improv Course
5th October 2013 - 26th October 2013
We've been having lots of fun running our regular improv 'playdates' and, due to a demand for more formal tuition in the dark art of improvisation, we are running our first ever course this Autumn.
This will take place over four Saturdays in October and will be facilitated by experienced improvisers who are also part of our newly founded Funny Women Players, under the expert direction of Emma Stroud and Courtney Cornfield.
Emma and Courtney will cover the basics of improvisation. Whether you are an actor, a business professional, comedian, a rusty improviser who needs to refresh your skills, or a novice improviser, this course is suitable for you. All we ask is that you are female, willing to learn, supportive and ready to have a good time!
Contrary to popular belief, the goal of good improvisation isn't to be funny but to tell a compelling story that your audience will want to listen to. The essence of a good narrative is often based around humour which is why 'improv' has become a staple commodity of comedy the world over. We will help you to tell stories and contribute to a narrative. Through the exploration of status, body awareness and listening skills you will leave feeling more confident about the art of improvisation - a useful skill for both performers and professionals.
