Funny Women Awards
The Funny Women Awards are celebrating their 10th anniversary! Over the past 10 years, we have been the first to see so many wonderful female comedians who are now major names on the comedy circuit. We are proud to have played a part in bringing more female voices onto the comedy scene and we look forward to discovering even more fantastic talent in 2012.
The Funny Women Awards are open to new female acts (up to five years performing) who can perform comedy in front of a live audience. We look for stand ups, impressionists, sketches, character and musical comics, ventriloquists, magicians, double acts and ensembles… anything, as long as it has a comic twist.
Our competition has a reputation for being one of the friendliest and most supportive of all the talent competitions. We aim to see every entrant perform live, and even if you don't feel quite ready, why not give it a go just to kick start your performing career and gain a bit of stage time?
About the Awards
This year we will be running heats throughout the UK, and for the very first time, Ireland. The 100 best acts, as voted on by our audience and judging panels, will be invited to perform at one of 10 spectacular Round Twoheats around the country. The winner of Round Two, as voted on by the audience on the night, will go through to the final at Leicester Square Theatre on Monday 24th September 2012. Two wild cards from any of the 10 semi-finals will also be invited to perform at the final.
